Presents
The Center of Materials and Failure Analysis (COMFA) founded in 2004 by the Institute of
Materials Science (IMS) under Vietnamese
Academy of Science and
Technology (VAST) is aiming to bring research results and scientific knowledge
into applied and practical services for the Vietnamese industry.
COMFA has been supported under Vietnamese – Germany Technical
Cooperation with GTZ/TUEV/DELTA, establishing its services and consultancy on
materials and failure analysis.
COMFA services have been accredited by VILAS in 2009
according to ISO/IEC 17025: 2005 (accreditation number VILAS 346).
COMFA with the modern and specialized equipment and
qualified staff is able to provide rapidly, professionally and efficiently the
following services:
Material Analysis:
Analysis of chemical composition, mechanical properties and structure (micro
and macro); Analysis of defects and inclusion chemical composition of materials/products
(using SEM – EDX).
On - site services without damage
of equipment part:
·
Replica Technique is a non-destructive
microstructure analysis method, which is widely used for creep assessment of
the components working at high temperature and high pressure such as furnace,
boiler, superheat tubes, heat exchange systems at electricity power plants,
petrochemical industry etc.
·
Thickness and hardness measurement by ultrasonic
technique.
·
Chemical composition analysis on spectrotest.
Failure Analysis:
Analysis of reason leading to failure of equipment parts/plant components.
And elaboration of a
remedy recommendation.
Advice an
improvement of mechanical product quality through production process
diagnosis.
Condition
Assessment using Replica Technique and on – site hardness
measurement in order to predict safe operational time of the components working
at high temperature and high pressure.
Analysis, Control
and Consultancy of boiler feed and boiler water in order to enhance
production safety and efficiency of
boiler with working pressure up to 30 bar.
Training
on water chemistry and corrosion for boiler, analysis of chemical composition,
hardness and impact measurement, structure analysis.
To meet customer requirements, COMFA is upgrading constantly
its service capacity, cooperating with partner institutions in Korea, Malaysia,
Thailand, Japan and Germany and carrying out research
projects as well.
